Great Western Exploration Limited has positioned itself as multi-commodity explorer having added several new grassroots projects during the year that include:
- The Doolgunna base metal project located 120km NE of Meekatharra
- The Millrose project represents a significant exploration opportunity to identify new Archaean lode gold and nickel deposits in the northern Kalgoorlie Superterrane of the Eastern Goldfields Province. The project extends south of the Shoemaker Structure near the boundary of the Earaheedy basin.
- Results from work completed at the company’s existing Forrestania Nickel projects has enhanced the area’s prospectivity by identifying komatiite stratigraphy in diamond drilling completed last year. This komatiite sequence is up to 132m thick down hole and contains traces of pentlandite (nickel bearing sulphide) and overlies a sulphidic BIF unit. This sequence is covered by flat lying granite sill of varying thickness of up to 20m.
The project is joint ventured to Western Areas who operate the Flying Fox Nickel Mine along strike to the north.
