Great Western Exploration Limited ("GTE") is a publicly-listed exploration company on the Australian Stock Exchange with the primary objective of creating wealth for shareholders via the discovery of high margin mineral deposits.
The Company is earning a 50% interest in the Spasskaya Project covering 12,500km2 of central Kazakhstan and holds 100% interest in two highly prospective gold and base metal projects, totalling 4,500km2 in Western Australia. The Company also holds a minority, non-contributing 49% joint venture interest in the Mt Gibb nickel sulphide and gold Project located in Western Australia where JV partner Western Areas NL (ASX:WSA) is actively exploring to earn up to 70%.
The company’s flagship project comprises 12,500km2 covering the historic Spasskaya copper belt in Central Kazakhstan. The historic copper belt continues to produce significant amounts of copper from large porphyry-related occurrences. Soviet era exploration indentified a number of high-grade, outcropping copper prospects at Spasskaya in the 1970s and 1980s in the lead-up to Perestroika. Little significant work has been carried out in the past 20 years. The company intends to focus initially on diamond drilling at several of the key Soviet-era prospects where the company believes it can delineate significant quantities of high-grade copper ore and develop near-term production. The company believes that the application of modern exploration techniques will result in further significant discoveries providing enormous upside potential to the Project.
